Brazilian government personnel files appear for sale online
- (02/09/23)
-
- The private details of thousands of Brazilian government workers have appeared for sale on a popular marketplace on the Chinese language darkweb. The data includes passport and birth certificate scans, as well as salary details and government email addresses.
-
- The seller's advertisement is short, explaining the data will be transmitted via a linked mega.nz file for $30 USD. It also notes that the information came from an unnamed "government website leak."
-
- The seller, carrying username gdlzj021216, only accepts payment in USDT-TRC20, a so-called stable-coin pegged to the USD issued by the Tron cryptocurrency network. This is unlike most other "Data Products" offered on such marketplaces, which typically accept Bitcoin, Ethereum as well as regular USDT cryptocurrencies.
